Clos Floridène now covers a total area of 40 hectares in the Graves appellation; most of it is on the limestone plateau of Pujols sur Ciron, near Barsac. Some portions are on the gravelly terraces of Illats. The name comes from a combination of the names of the founders, Denis and Florence Dubourdieu.
The vineyards dedicated to white grapes, about 25 hectares, are planted to Semillon (53%), Sauvignon (45%) and Muscadelle (2%).
After the death of Denis Dubourdieu, a celebrated oenologist and professor at the Bordeaux Faculty of Oenology, nicknamed "The Pope of White Wines," it is his sons Fabrice and Jean-Jaques who perpetuate the family legacy on the five estates they own.
