In the St. Emilion appellation, where most of the estates have a dozen or so hectares under vine, Château Troplong-Mondot covers 43 hectares in a single parcel on highly prized clay-limestone soils that classify it "1er Grand Cru Classé B."
Owned by the Valette family since 1920, it is thanks to the determination and passion of Christine Valette that the estate was raised to the rank of 1er Grand Cru Classé B of St. Emilion in 1981. Disappeared prematurely, the estate was purchased in 2017 by the reinsurance group SCOR.
