From the same owners as Lafite-Rothschild, Château Rieussec is one of the largest estates in Sauternes and Barsac. The 93-hectare estate stretches from the border of Fargues and Sauternes, close to the vines of rival Château d'Yquem. 1er Crand cru since 1855.
The harvest is unique: from October to December, the harvesters go through all the vines, selecting one by one the bunches of grapes that have reached a good stage of "rot" (noble rot). It is only at this price that the necessary concentration of sugars can be achieved to obtain a Sauternes wine.
