Ghidossi Wine Group
Ideal landscapes and climatic conditions help make Ticino one of the most renowned wine-growing areas in the production of elegant and refined wines. Ticino can be considered a second home of Merlot, a Bordeaux grape variety, and its wines are often awarded internationally for excellence, uniqueness and identity. It is in this context that GHIDOSSI WINE GROUP was born, a Group that brings together three prestigious wineries that boast a similar history of passion, tradition and cutting-edge technology: Cantine Ghidossi, Chiodi SA Ascona, Vinicola Carlevaro
Ghidossi Wine Group represents the perfect synthesis of tradition and innovation. The oenologists of the three wineries expertly select the best grapes from their vineyards each year. In particular, the Merlot grape variety enjoys the favorable location of the Southern Alps, and its cultivation, which occupies 85 percent of the vineyards, is perfectly adapted to both the steep terraces of the Sopraceneri and the sunny hills of the Sottoceneri.
Tradition, craftsmanship, professionalism and passion have raised production standards. Today, the quality and reputation of Ticino wines are very high, thanks in part to research and investment in cutting-edge technologies: wines such as "Ticino doc Merlot Saetta" (Saetta, from the nickname of owner Gianfranco Ghidossi) or "Ticino doc Merlot San Martino 2018," or even "Ticino doc Rompidee" and "il Ticino doc Ampelio," have won numerous national and international awards and recognitions. It is the official recognition that Canton Ticino is a land of excellence in Merlot production.
