The history of this Château dates back to the beginning of the 18th century, when the royal governor of Medoc, Jean-François de Pontet grouped together various lands in Pauillac. After a few years, his heirs bought the neighboring lands of Canet: thus Château Pontet-Canet was born. A century later, the Universal Exhibition of 1855 confirmed the Chàteau's elite status, classifying it as a 5eme Cru. Today it is owned by the Tesseron family and has 81 hectares of vineyards, set on the best gravelly soils of the appellation.
It was one of the first estates in the Bordeaux region to obtain Organic and Biodynamic certification, starting in 2010.
