The Gaja family's second Tuscan estate, Ca' Marcanda, located on the Bolgheri coast was purchased in 1996, just 2 years after Montalcino. The endless discussions that led to this purchase were the inspiration for the name, as Ca' Marcanda means "house of long negotiations" from the Piedmontese dialect Ca', meaning "house," and Marcanda for "haggling." The philosophy of extreme quality applies to the 60 hectares of vineyards and uniquely designed wines.
Gaja's "Vistamare" is a white wine produced in Bolgheri, on the Ca' Marcanda estate.
